Objectives:
  • Prepare a serious speech that opens and closes with a humorous stories
  • Include jokes in the speech body to illustrate points or maintain audience interest
  • Deliver the stories smoothly and effectively

Evaluation Feedback:
Time taken: 7:07 minutes
The opening was effective
The stories linked well to the topic. In the joke, Johannesburg could have been changed to Durban ("Coast to coast" reference would have been more effective
The jokes nicely emphesised the topic.
There was a lot of poses, although not too much.

Body: Nice, everyday

Closing: make each day valentine's day. Last part of "My funny valentine" song

Objectives:
  • Entertain the audience through the use of humor drawn from personal experience and from other material that you have personalised
  • Deliver the speech in a way that makes the humor effective
  • Establish personal rapport with your audience for maximum impact

Evaluation Feedback:
Time taken - 16.30 minutes.
Opening effective.
The use of song was good.
The song well selected, song represent valentine
Outline a bit disjointed... not everybody got the pub joke.
Didn't see the link at first.
Great timing with the joke (by those who got it)
The speaker appeared relaxed and clear
the jokes where well placed.
The ending worked well.
Movement was distracting at first.
Limited area... could have been utilised better.
Good information, the research showed.

Evaluation Feedback:
The topic could have clearer as in the objective (serious speech)
The focus should be sandwishing a serious speech with humorous even light hearted stories
Audience was amused!
You're an accomplished speaker and the audience at Randburg Toastmasters felt honoured to have you.
Smooth delivery that need vocal variety in this case.. and more volume to fit the venue.

  • Learn to evaluated audience feeling and establish emotional rapport
  • Learn and use the professional techniques necessary for a successful keynote presentation
  • Develop a speech style and delivery that effectively inspires and moves the audience to adopt your view as a collective reaffirmation of its own

Evaluation Feedback:
A pass :-)
You managed to make the time, 15minutes, well done.
More vocal variation was needed here, due to the length of the speech.
Jokes should be practiced to be more smooth...
Pause must be used to give the audience the chance to assimilate the punch line.
